What to See
The Basin is a geological formation that has been referred to as a “great natural pothole.” It is a granite abyss 20 feet wide, complete with a small waterfall. The Basin is about a ten minute walk from the Franconia Notch parking area.
Trail heads to Cascade Brook Falls and Kinsman Falls are also accessible from the parking area. Other features of Franconia Notch include Avalanche Falls, Liberty Gorge Cascade, Flume Gorge, the Pool, and Cloudland Falls. The waterfalls may be small, but they are breathtaking nonetheless.

The parking area at Franconia Notch State Park is located on I-93, about ten minutes north of Woodwards Resort.
